The legacy of Lagerfeld
Highly influential and one of the most acclaimed fashion designers in the world, Karl Lagerfeld is being mourned by the fashion and celebrity world this week after dying at the age of 85. He leaves behind a huge creative legacy as the designer who (in his own words) “continued to embrace the present and invent the future.” Vale Kaiser Karl.
For Eco-stylist and media personality Faye Delanty, Lagerfeld was a big fashion influence. “Karl inspired me to dream and was always front of mind when I began my journey into op shop styling and to this day he is always the one I look to. Karl is such a fashion icon and has inspired me incredibly throughout my journey and indeed my time with Salvos Stores”.
“Paris Bombay 2012-13 was my all time favourite collection, a stunning dichotomy of Indian cultural fashion traditions contrasted with Rastafarian accents. The models had dreadlocks...I mean could that be any cooler! I created in 2015 as an ode to that show (pictured below)and I found everything at the Salvos and it rang in to under $50!” says Faye.
When you think Chanel, luxury quilted bags with gold detailing, two-tone shoes, tweed jackets and strings of pearls come to mind. Super chic but expensive, right?
